Jimi Jamison, vocalista dos Survival, morreu na noite do passado domingo, aos 63 anos, confirmou a banda na sua página do Facebook.
O cantor natural de Memphis, Tennessee, que também integrou os Cobra como vocalista no início dos anos 1980, foi vítima de ataque cardíaco, anunciou a sua manager ao site TMZ.
Os Survivor tornaram-se mais conhecidos pela canção "Eye of the Tiger" (1982), da banda sonora do filme "Rocky III", mas Jimi Jamison também se distingiu por ter sido co-compositor e cantor do tema do genérico da série "Marés Vivas" ("Baywatch"), "I'm Always Here", além de ter dado voz a canções de "Karate Kid" e "Rocky IV". Ao trabalho a solo ou com as bandas de hard rock juntaram-se ainda colaborações como nomes como ZZ Top ou Joe Walsh.
Jamison juntou-se aos Survivor nos anos 1980, optou por seguir uma carreira em nome próprio em 2006 e acabou por regressar à banda em 2011.
