O músico Danny Kirwan, antigo guitarrista do grupo de rock norte-americano-britânico Fleetwood Mac, faleceu em Londres, aos 68 anos, anunciou hoje, na rede social Facebook, Mick Fleetwood, cofundador do grupo.

Danny Kirwan, que conheceu enorme sucesso mundial nos anos 1970, morreu na sexta-feira.

"Danny foi uma enorme força nos nossos primeiros anos. O seu amor pelos blues levou-o a juntar-se aos Fleetwood Mac, em 1968, e foi ali que encontrou a sua casa musical durante muitos anos", escreveu Mick Fleetwood.

Criado na origem como grupo de blues, Fleetwood Mac tornou-se, nos anos de 1970, num dos mais consagrados grupos pop do mundo, tendo vendido mais de 100 milhões de álbuns.

O trabalho de Danny Kirwan no grupo pode ser ouvido nos álbuns "Then Play On" (1969), "Blues Jam at Chess" (1969), "Kiln House" (1970), "Future Games" (1971) e "Bare Trees" (1972).

"A verdadeira herança de Danny, na minha opinião, viverá para sempre na música que ele escreveu e tocou tão magnificamente, enquanto participou na fundação do grupo Fleetwood Mac, que está ativo há mais de 50 anos", acrescentou Mick Fleetwood.

"Obrigada Danny Kirwan. Serás recordado para sempre!", disse ainda.

Kirwan, que lutava contra uma dependência do álcool, foi excluído do grupo em 1972.

Viveu durante algum tempo na rua no início dos anos 1990, em Londres, segundo uma entrevista que deu ao jornal britânico The Independent, em 1993.

O vocalista e guitarrista Lindsey Buckinghman vai deixar a banda Fleetwood Mac, ao fim de mais de 40 anos, anunciou na segunda-feira o grupo anglo-americano.

Os Fleetwood Mac afirmaram que o músico, de 68 anos, não estará presente na digressão de despedida e que será substituído por Neil Finn (Crowded House) e Mike Campbell (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers).

"Lindsey Buckingham não vai atuar com a banda nesta digressão. A banda deseja o melhor a Lindsey", de acordo com o comunicado divulgado na segunda-feira.

Na digressão vão participar os restantes membros do grupo: Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, Mick Fleetwood e John McVie.

Lindsey Buckingham juntou-se à banda de rock em 1974 com a então namorada Stevie Nick. Os dois foram, durante as quatro décadas seguintes, os rostos, as vozes e os autores de êxitos como "Go Your Own Way", "Tusk" e "The Chain".

O músico já tinha deixado a banda em 1987, mas regressou em 1996, tendo permanecido até agora no grupo.

Desconhecem-se os motivos desta separação.

A polícia foi chamada a um hotel em Park Lane, em Westminster, às 9h05, onde Dolores O'Riordan já se encontrava sem vida.

A declaração emitida pelo seu representante refere que a família da cantora está "devastada" e pede privacidade neste momento difícil.

Nascida a 6 de setembro de 1971 e batizada com o nome Dolores Mary Eileen O'Riordan, era a mais nova dos sete filhos dos seus pais. Em 1989, juntou-se aos Cranberries depois de responder a um anúncio colocado pelos irmãos Mike e Noel Hogan, fundadores do grupo. Após um promissor primeiro álbum, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? (1993), berço de "Linger" e "Dreams", a banda atingiu grande sucesso com No Need to Argue, álbum de 1994 que continha o êxito "Zombie" - 17 milhões de cópias foram vendidas em todo o mundo.

Ao longo dos anos 90, o grupo lançaria To The Faithfull Departed (1996) e Bury the Hatchet (1999), antes de Wake Up and Smell the Coffee, já em 2001. Em 2003, os Cranberries anunciaram a sua separação, com O'Riordan a enveredar por uma carreira a solo que deu origem aos álbuns Are You Listening (2007) e No Baggage (2009).

O regresso dos Cranberries, anunciado em 2009, ofereceu à discografia da banda mais dois álbuns: Roses, de 2012, e Something Else, lançado no ano passado.

Os Cranberries estiveram várias vezes em Portugal, tendo o primeiro concerto do grupo entre nós tido lugar no Coliseu dos Recreios, em Lisboa, em 1995. A última atuação foi na edição de 2011 do festival Marés Vivas, em Gaia, um ano depois de uma apresentação no Campo Pequeno, em Lisboa.

"Este Natal será difícil sem ele, mas sabemos que não estamos sozinhos no luto pelo aniversário da sua morte", frisa a família, agradecendo todas as homenagens."Queremos agradecer-vos antes de tudo por terem levado 'Listen Without Prejudice' até ao número um novamente. Ficámos felizes e tristes ao mesmo tempo (...) Ele teria adorado!! Não conseguem imaginá-lo a sorrir e a dizer 'obrigado meus amores'?", pode ler-se no texto.

"Este ano trouxe novos e difíceis desafios a todos aqueles que eram próximos e leais ao Yog, sendo que um deles foi a necessidade de nos fazermos de fortes este mês ao ouvir 'Last Christmas' e 'December Song' em lojas, carros e rádios, tal como aconteceu durante décadas, sabendo que ele já não está connosco",  diz a família de George Michael, relembrando que o cantor adorava o Natal.

"Ele haveria de querer que todos vocês, que o adoravam e amavam (sim, ele sabe disso) parassem um pouco, fizessem um brinde a ouvir a música dele e pensassem nele com carinho, assegurando-se que se divertem e apreciam o vosso tempo com família e com os amigos", escreveu a família.

O cantor morreu a 25 de dezembro de 2016, aos 53 anos, na sua casa em Oxfordshire, Inglaterra, onde foi encontrado pelo companheiro, Fadi Fawaz. No início de março de 2017, foi revelado pelo médico legista Darren Salter que o artista sofreu uma "cardiomiopatia dilatada com miocardite e fígado gordo". Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou — nome do cantor — nasceu num bairro londrino em 1963 e tornou-se uma estrela mundial nos anos 1980.
